Tips for Caring Your Wedding Ring

Your wedding ring is a symbol of lifetime commitment to your spouse. So for most people they want to keep this memorable ring until his life time but day-to-day activities may slowly cause wear and tear to the rings without knowing it.

Below are some of the tips for caring your ring which keeps your ring safer, newer for longer time:

  • First and the foremost thing to do is take off the ring while you are doing household things such as cleaning dishes or cleaning the house (because harsh chemical soaps or detergents can spoil the ring), while gardening(whenever you dig the soil, the rocks present in the soil may loosen your stones in the ring), cooking and DIY.
  • Sometimes as the days are passing, ring prongs may become tender, weakened, loose, or bent so you need to take little care. To prevent the loss of your stone, inspect the ring with a trusted jeweler, provide a professional cleaning and look over your prongs.
  • Avoid wearing a white gold in swimming pools and hot tubs because the chlorine present in the water can damage the gold. This chlorine may attack the surface of your ring causing pitting and discoloration.
  • Whenever you are not wearing any ring, store them in the separate jewelry case, or individually lined compartment which keeps rings away from rubbing against other pieces of jewelry. So this can prevent the occurrences of scratches.
  • Before spraying perfumes, putting lotions and sunscreens on your body, remove your ring from your fingers. This will prevent from the gunk.
  • Always keep your ring clean.

Last but not the least, if you want to protect the ring, then remove the ring while you are engaged in hard labor on a routine basis such as operating heavy machinery or construction work. This will help avoid breaks, cracks, discoloration, looseness and splits.
