Relaxation Exercises for Jaw Pain

It is very difficult to bear the pain and costs of dental problems. Apart from the teeth, certain jaw related problems also make you miserable. A deviation or an unwanted shifting of the jaw causes severe jaw pain. When a person facing this problem opens the mouth, the jaws are deviated to one side, towards the damaged jaw joint. However, certain relaxation exercises should be performed for relieving from jaw pain.

You can relax your jaw muscles by keeping your mouth wide open for a long time. The other exercise is to push the head backwards by supporting with your hands. The lower jaw should be pushed outwards till you feel a certain stress on your throat, chin and in your ears. Repeat it for 20 times and pause for a while.

Here is another exercise. Keep your head straight. Open and close your mouth as slowly as possible. Notice that your jaw deviates to one side when you are facing any problems like lockjaw and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder. However, try to open your mouth in a straight manner. Repeat this exercise for 10 times and stop for some time. Then, repeat it for another three times.

Other easy relaxation exercise for jaw pain is to stretch the muscles in a reverse way. Open and close your mouth slowly. Then, open it to the right and then to the left. It should also be done for 10 times, have a pause and then repeat for two more times. Doing this exercise three times a day can be helpful. A simultaneous therapy along with these exercises reduces the jaw pain.
