Recruiting Plummets amid the Jobless Hike

With the new spree of mass lay-offs that is rocking the nation, the vacancies number is also hurting the jobless or unemployed from the other side.

According to Society for Human Resource Management, job vacancies are constantly vanishing from the job market. Almost all of the industry sectors have its employers with imposing hiring freezes. And many more are cutting the existing jobs.

Manufacturing sector has the vacancies number to an overall decrease to 12.8 percent. The position of the same sector just the previous year was at a good rate with positive 8.2 percent. And the new hire packages are also going to get decreased in more companies of this sector (2.0 percent) compared to the previous year (1.9 percent).

And the news with the service sector is almost the same. The vacancies are down by 13.8 percent in 2008 in this sector. But the new hire packages will be increasing by 4 percent of the respondents. This number is also at a decrease as 4.9 percent of respondents were increasing new-hire spending in 2007.
